After six years only using #Contabo, I am looking for other #VPS #hosting options. I do not feel they are particularly reliable any more (maybe they have never been), and I would prefer to go for a provider with a good track record.

I have looked at websites comparing other hosting options, but of course everything is super chaotic and flashy and aaaargh

I trust folks here for advice on affordable, reliable, trustworthy European providers. I would like to add cooperative and sustainable too, but they all seem to be way more expensive and I am afraid I cannot afford them right now.

Because I am a student, I have emailed some more “progressive” hosting providers asking for discounts, but I feel a bit bad doing that.

Oh Ugh! #Fastmail has HCaptcha. Bletch! Tried to do their 30 day free trial and, not only did they seem to block Google Voice numbers, but they have HCaptcha on almost every login/recovery page, and, no thank you. Gonna look at other email providers, but Fastmail is out for me, which is a shame because I love all the things they provide.

HCaptcha is everywhere on almost all account activity things I tried. Creation, login, recovery, and other places. I had to do their accessibility cookie. I don’t know why I did not get there text challenge. When HCaptcha detected I had a Gmail address, they forced me to make an account. I made an account, applied the accessibility cookie, then immediately requested my account be deleted. HCaptcha said my account will be deleted within 20 hours. I can’t express how much I hate HCaptcha. #Email

@WeirdWriter The second page immediately after the sign-up asks for info to join the waiting list… Nice to see that they progressed and have a dedicated sign-up/login interface now, but I think they are still in closed alpha testing. AFAIK, they now have 1000 accounts running, out of a total of 50k in the waiting list.

I have waited so far… I will resist up to a couple more months, if necessary.
